Client:
Philips
Role:
UXUI Designer
Year:
2022
Background
With the continuous development of design systems, the basic design component and guidelines are already mature and completed. How to better integrate business scenarios within the healthcare domain is the refinement direction of Philips' existing design system.
Main Challenges
The design system project is not directly tied to business projects, requiring communication with multiple stakeholders with vested interests, while also considering the timelines of parallel business initiatives.
Improvements to the design system are based on local insights and contextual needs in China, which requires regular communication with the global team in a way that is acceptable and understandable to them.
Solution
The key deliverables included reusable design assets such as color palette combinations and chart templates, as well as documented insights on large-screen dashboard interaction design.
Key takeaways
The development and maintenance of a design system extend beyond static design assets; they also encompass design processes, guidelines, and the day-to-day practices of projects and teamwork.
Intangible works such as communication workflows and design thinking processes should also be documented and formalized as part of the project deliverables.
